Training Young Leaders Since 1895
The Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.) is the nation’s oldest and largest patriotic youth organization. We offer boys and girls the unique opportunity to learn leadership skills, discover American history, and serve their local community.
Who Can Join?
Membership is open to any boy or girl from birth until their 22nd birthday who is lineally descended from a man or woman who rendered unfailing service or aided in achieving American Independence.
Whether your ancestor was a soldier, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, or a citizen who provided material aid to the cause, their legacy qualifies you to join our ranks.
Why Join the Charlestown Society?
Our local society brings history to life right here in our community. Members gain valuable experiences that last a lifetime:
🇺🇸 Patriotism: Participate in local historical commemorations and veterans' support projects.
🛠️ Leadership: Hold society offices, run meetings, and organize service campaigns.
📚 Education: Learn about the founding of our nation and preserve local history.
🤝 Community: Make lifelong friends with other young leaders who share a passion for service.
Ready to Get Started?
You do not need to have your genealogy completely figured out to begin. Many members join through a family connection to a current member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) or the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), which simplifies the application process.
Our adult leaders (Senior Leaders) are happy to help you research your family lineage and complete the paperwork.

The Charlestown Society gives young people a chance to make a real difference while building skills that last a lifetime. Our activities focus on three main pillars:
🇺🇸 Patriotism: Supporting active-duty military, honoring local veterans, and participating in community commemorations.
📜 History: Exploring the rich revolutionary heritage of our region and preserving the memory of our ancestors.
🛠️ Leadership: Empowering youth members to run business meetings, hold society offices, and organize service projects.
Supported by Our Heritage Family
While our meetings and projects are conducted by our youth members, we operate under the guidance of dedicated adult Senior Leaders. We are proud to work closely with our local sponsoring chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). Together, we help the next generation discover the pride of preserving American liberty.
