Purpose: Honor American heroes past and present, from military service to local first responders. Members are encouraged to support their local heroes, service members both near and abroad who are serving now, as well as thank veterans, who have served in the past.
Program: Celebrate and honor veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and their role in protecting Liberty’s Legacy.
Ideas for possible activities:
1. Interview first responders in your area- what they do, what made them want to serve, etc.
2. Donate treat bags to local fire and police stations (don’t forget the canine units).
3. Send care packages and/or create cards for active-duty service members.
4. Invite veterans to a local society meeting to give a program about their time and experience in the service.
5. Create a display recognizing local veterans or first responders in your community.
6. Honor the victims, survivors, first responders, and service members in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
These are just SOME ideas for possible activities for this contest. We encourage and would like to see you create something new and exciting with your society for your submission.
